The use of Herbal Medicine
The use of herbal formulas is a big component of Chinese Medicine. Many times, herb formulas are custom made according to each patient. Herb formulas are available in the form of teas, pills, powdered granules, capsules, and topical patches, oils, or liniments.
Qi and it’s movement in the body
There are many different types of therapies available to patients at Wellspring of Life Acupuncture, such as herbs, massage, cupping, food therapy, qi gong exercise, and of course, acupuncture. TCM is built upon the theory that QI (chee), often compared to what we know call energy, is travelling through particular pathways and channels referred to as meridians. If the body or meridians are out of balance, the usage of herbs and acupuncture can help rebalance the qi. A body in balance is in a desirable state.
The purpose of TCM is not to just treat symptoms, but rather to discover and address the root cause of disease in the body. This is done by an extensive health history, examining the tongue, and palpating the pulse.
